What is specific gravity?

how about its formulas...

Answer:
It is a measure the density of something. Basically its grams per cubic centimeter...but its based on the density of water. It doesn't really have units. So if something is 5 times heavier per the same volme than is water, its specific gravity would be 5.
to calculate it
(mass of object / volume of object) / (1g / cubic cm) = specific gravity
It's the ratio of density to the density of water. In the metric system, the density of water is 1, so density = sp.grav. But in other systems of measurement, that's not necessarily true.
mass of object / volume of object) / (1g / cubic cm) = specific gravity
