Who conceived the idea of indivisible units called atoms?
Answer:
Philosophically - Democritus of Ancient Greece
Scientifically - Rudjer Boscovich, father of atomism
The Greeks
The Greek philosopher Democritus, I believe.
Also consider that 'atom' stems from the Latin for 'a - not' plus 'tomos - cut' and were believed to be the smallest objects that could not be further divided. This preceded our modern concept of the atom and of course the atom may be divided into protons, neutrons and electrons.
Leucippus. Democritus was important, but the orginator was Leucippus.
Or maybe it came from India.
