In a home pool when the PH is far too high, would it be (PH minus) that you would add?

alkalinityis also high?what is the best solution. can anyone help please.

Answer:
You have a high alkalinity content. What you add depends on how high the pH is and how did it get there ?
You cannot add acids, as such, to the pool. (Chlorination by NaOCl (Sodium Hypochlorite (or Chlorine tablets)), should help to bring the pH down).
Otherwise, the safest way would be to drain out some or all of the pool water and refill with fresh water (Neutral pH 7.0).
(Muriatic acid is Hydrochloric acid ...I, personally, wouldn't use it in any large quantity if at all).
pH is a measure of acidity, from being very acid to 14 being very basic or alkaline.
pH too high means too much alkalinity.
Add your pool chemical that decreases pH and alkalinity. It would be a weak acid.
7 is a neutral pH.
Water from the ground is generally slightly alkaline, pH 7.8
Make sure the chlorine level is Ok and then add PH minus Check PH level the next day and then add more if necessary.
Why are you talking about me?
The answer is YES,
When the pH is high the water is acid, when the pH is low the water is alkaline. So if your pH is too high then it follows that the alkalinity is too high also,
In my pool I reduce the pH by adding a solution of hydrochloric acid.

Hope this helps
To bring pH to about 7 , you can add carefully Hydrochloric acid which will be cheaper or you can add vinegar ( Acetic Acid ) which may be costly.
