Crude Oil ?

a) Why is the demand for diesel oil and residue greater in winter than in summer?

b) Why is the demand for petrol fairly constant in summer and winter?

c) What could an oil company do to cope with the changing demand between summer and winter?

Answer:
may be diesel engines work better during winter .diesel is less expensive.the engine got to work more and there is more oil needed.so people turn to diesel

petrol shows same perfomances due to greater octane number

the company can demand for the goods which r needy
Diesel is used as home heating fuel in some areas, therefore greater winter demand.

Petrol is used predominately as an automotive fuel and auto travel is more constant throughout the year.

They can (and do) shift refining capacities between products to account for the seasonal variations.

a)...Diesel oil (actually a gas-oil), and residues are used as heating fuels in the winter but not so much in summer.
(True diesel is more refined than heating oils).
b)...People and industry use petrol more or less at the same rate all year ..travelling to work..deliveries of goods, etc.
c...Oil companies actually change the grade of crude oil processed to suit the demands ..different crudes contain different components. The heavier crudes will produce more heating oils.
