Distillation?

Can you please give me two liquids that can be seperated by the distillation process and can one of the liquids be something beginning with the letter "P" please! Also, when you have done that, please tell me which liquid reaches it's boiling point first (in degrees celsius) and when the other liquid reaches its boiling point second (in degrees celsius) Thanks!

x

Answer:
Here are 2 P's but a good example would be 1-propanol and 2 propanol. 2 propanol will reach its boiling point first at 82 degreesC whereas 1 propanol will reach it at 97 degrees.
Water and 1-piperazinoethanol (bp =246.3). Nonazeotrope.
Sure, how about propionaldehyde bp 47-50ºC and 1-propanol bp 97ºC.

The propionaldehye will boil first of course

Edit

These can be separate by normal distillation Propanal and Propanol.
Propan-2-ol and water can be separated by fractional distillation.
Propan-2-ol boils first at 82C, and then water at 100C.
water and alcohol...

alcohol boils first
Vodka contains about 40% Ethanol and 60% water.
By simple distillation and a controlled outlet temp. of 78°C(using a reflux column and control of the heat input), the Ethanol will begin to vaporise and condense into the measuring cylinder.
When the temperature begins to rise above 78°C, the collected liquid will be about 95% ethanol and the distillation should be stopped (or switched to another receiver) to prevent water re-entering the distillate. A further distillation run of the first receiver contents, will produce around 98% Ethanol purity.

(Leaving the process running, the temperature will begin to quickly rise to 100°C as only water remains in the flask).
