I need people with a knowledge of Chemistry to check my answers plz?
1.) In order to melt a sold, energy must be added to overcome the solid's intermolecular forces- True
2.) Evaporation requires application of energy, but boiling does not- False
3.) Liquefication is the condensing of gas to liquid by applying heat- True
4.) Which is not a basic assumption of Kinetic energy? - The particles of matter move at equal speeds.
*5.) Which of the following properties of a gas is explained by the collision of its molecules with the container?
A- temperature, B- pressure C- volume D- mass
6.) As the temperature of a substance decreases, the average kinetic energy of its particles- decreases
7.) Which contains more energy, water at 100C or steam at 100C?- steam
8.) If atmospheric pressure decreases, does the boiling point increase, decrease, or stay the same?- decrease
Answer:
5)pressure
I think the other answer is melts but I'm not exactly sure...
When a gas molecule crashes against the wall of a container it exerts a force. All the gas molecules colliding creates a force against the wall known as pressure. Anyway the other options have nothing to do with forces...
Oh, the big hint is also "collid[ing] ... molecules". If it was volume then they would phrase the question differently... (like not so specific)
Hope this helps : )
pressure, gases exert all their pressure on wall of their container
