How does a base ionize?

I'm studying for my chemistry test tomorrow and I need to know.

Answer:
FIRST OF ALL SEE THAT GIVEN BASE IS SOLUBLE IN WATER OR NOT . IF IT IS SOLUBLE THEN IT'S IONISED,& IT IS INSOLUBLE IN WATER THEN TRY IN DILUTED/STRONG ACID (HCL, H2SO4, etc.
strong bases ionises completely in water
NaOH → Na+ + OH-

weak bases ionises partially in water
NH3 + H2O <==> NH4+ + OH¯
