What kind of chemical reaction is this?
I was doing my laundry and i measure my cup of bleach in the laundry soap lid (tide laundry soap, corox bleach), well i didn't have enough bleach to fill the whole cup so i added some clorox 2 which is non-chlorine bleach to the lid about 1/4 and it foamed up like a pop opened after shaking it.
Answer:
it was like pop, exactly so
the formation of CO2 gas is wehat happened
the pH rose enough that the bicarb in the soap gassed off to release CO2, the same gas that makes pop fizzy
do not EVER mix two different cleaners. If you mix ammonia based cleaner with chlorine based cleaner it will give off chlorine gas which is toxic. The reaction is an exothermic reaction as the formation of chlorine gas is a more stable state and energy and heat are given off (that is the foaming action you observed).
