Electrolysis of Water Molecules on a small scale?

What is an easy way of seperating atoms in water molecules on a small scale for a 5th graders science project?

Answer:
Type in electolysis of water in Wikipedia.com, it shows a nice setup for electrolysis of water into hydrogen and oxygen. You should be able to do this with a mid-size battery and smaller wire components. Be careful not to electrocute yourself.
a 4.5 volt bell battery with paper clips as connectors
wrap wire round the clips slide the clips over the battery terminals
add 1 drop of sulfuric acid to a beaker of water to add to its conductivity
fill 2 test tubes from the beaker and invert them below the level of water
put the ends of the wires under each test tube let the bubbles rise inside the test tube
doing this from memory so cant remember which is which re negative and positive but i do remember that you should be able to collect twice the volume of hydrogen gas in 1 tube as you do oxygen in the other - enjoy
Two copper strips, connected to a 9 or 12V battery placed a large glass of water should do it.
