How would you know how much water can a cleaning sponge contain?

Answer:
Interesting your question. I think this method:

1. weight your dry sponge.
2. wet your sponge .
3. weight your wet sponge.
4. Dry well ,in a microwave your wet sponge .
5. Weight.
6. Number 5= number one.
7. How much water= number one +number six/ 2= x
then, x- weight number 3 = your weight of water sponge.
Weigh it dry, soak it, and weigh it again.
Fill a large measuring jug with water to 1 litre.
Place the sponge in the jug and ensure it's fully soaked.
Lift it out and allow to drain into the jug until the water stops dripping and note the water level. The difference will be near enough to the amount of water in the sponge.
