If you are doing a chromatography experiment working with Phenol Red and an unknown solution. What would happen if you did not clean the capillary tube (used to measure the solutes) well enough between applications of the two?
Answer:
You would get spots from both dyes in both positions, so you wouldn't be able to tell which was which.
