i am doing a expirement on meaureing how much gas is produced when bicarb is added to vinegar. How can i mesure the gas produced? in volumn? please help!
Answer:
trap in balloon if possible, or bubble into upside down beaker that is submerged in water. the gas will push out the water (although it will be a slightly greater pressure (meaning smaller volume, but just like the pressure from the elasticity of the balloon))
This article has an interesting, cheap apparatus for measuring the volume of a gas produced in a chemical reaction.

The upshot of the experimet is that the volume of the water displaced in Flask B is equal to the volume of the gas produced in the reaction.
I hope this helps.
