What are major and minor species (in Chemistry)?

We have this lab that's due soon. It's about the conductivity of solutions - our instructor listed many substances and we were asked to fill in a chart for the respective substances. One of the chart columns asks for Major and Minor Species. What are they?

Example problem: When sucrose dissociates in water, what major species and minor species are formed?

Answer:
Nobody knows, but water (H2O) is neither major or minor. I believe a professor of mine told me that in class. So just remember not to put that down.
