I want to be a chemist when i am older how do I do that?

I love science and I love chemistry, but how do i become a chemist? Please help me

Answer:
Hi. I have a degree in chemistry and I'll try to answer your questions.

Study mathematics! Math will help you to solve chemsitry problems more than you could ever imagine.

Of course, you will probably take chemistry in high school. Study hard, make good grades. Work as many problems in the end of the chapters as you possibly can.

It can't hurt for you to pick up a used college general chemistry book somewhere. Maybe ebay or a used bookstore. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for an older edition chem. book. Try to read through it in your spare time.

Oh, I'll mention this!... If you want to try any experiments, please ask your teacher or parents about it FIRST! Learn about safety and chemistry before you attempt ANY experiment whatsoever. If you do any chemistry experiments (with approval of teachers and/or parents) make sure you use safety goggles that are safe for chemistry labs (no large air holes or gaps around the edges of the goggle).

Chemsitry safety is actually very important in industry and many large companies and universities even have a "safety officer" or something similar.

Good luck to you and let me know if I can by any more help. Just email me. mdavidroth@yahoo.com
major in chemistry
buy a chemistry set! $29.99 @ a nerd store at the mall!
Well if i were u id ask a teacher/professor,me im going to work for nasa.
I can't judge you. I'm to busy being delicious
If you have to ask then you are too dumb to be a chemist.
You don't say how old you are. Assuming you haven't finished high school yet you'll need to do that first and get good grades/SAT scores. Then find a school with a good undergraduate chemistry program. Don't necessarily jump into the Ivy League school. There are plenty of good schools around. Then ace the books and get ready for graduate school. Good luck
you should major in chemistry, and ask your professors about jobs in that field. he/she might suggest trying to find new medicines, or new plastics for building, or stronger metallic alloys. chemistry can be found in many different fields, such a construction, medicine, and cooking

its whatever suits you
Hi. Well i have just finished my a-levels (Chemistry, Physics and ICT), and i am going to uni next year to study chemistry. I believe that you need at least two science subjects at a-level, and also mathematics is prefered as chemistry does involve some maths. But i still got accepted without maths, but i will have to do a module in maths when i start my course. So getting a degree in chemistry should pretty much get you there, although to work as a chemist you may need a MChem or MSci (Masters degree) at least.

I hope this helps
