What is an insulator? also, can you tell me a good example of an insulator?
Answer:
that´s a substance that does not conduct. it usually meant in a sense of conducting electricity or heat. they are usually made of non-polar macromolecules (some plastics, neoprene, rubber)
actually air is quite a good example for both.
while metals, are very, very bad insulators.
Rubber soled shoes-
What kind of insulator? If you mean for keeping electricity from moving, rubber works well. If you mean in redox, it just keeps the ions from jumping all over and into places where you don't want it in the battery. Cardboard works well here.
Electrical insulation is a material or object which contains no free electrons to permit the flow of electricity. When a voltage is placed across an insulator, no charge or current flows. An object intended to support or separate electrical conductors without passing current through itself is called an insulator.
Silicon dioxide and teflon are very good insulators. Also, rubber and plastics are good enough to insulate.
it is a substance that does not allow electricity or heat to pass through it. examples:wood, paper, air.
