Help!!!!?

what reaction happens when
a) carbon and air
b) chorine and acid

Answer:
Carbon and air requires heat. Then there is a flame, and combustion occurs. Carbon dioxide is the only product.
Chlorine and acid - a very odd question. There is no reaction between chlorine and most acids. I wonder why you were asked this? Chlorine is an oxidising agent, not a base. Acids need bases to react with (along with other things).
carbon plus air gives carbon dioxide... think charcoal burning ;)
chlorine and acid- chlorine will neutralize the acid when it combines with the free hydrogen (what makes acid acid)
