Explain about the reaction between propanone, and iodine in the presence of hydrogen ions in aqueous solution

Answer:
Look up "iodination of propanone" (or acetone). There will be hundreds of references to this. It turns out to be first order in [H+] and first order in (CH3COCH3], and 0th order in I2. It is a classic examination question. The orders tell you that the rate determining step is protonation of the propanone, followed by rapid iodination.
Look up the haloform reaction and you will see what the product should be.
