Pls help me with these chemistry problems?
2.Osmium is the densest metal known with a density of 22.57 g/cm3 . Calculate the mass in pounds of an osmium sphere 15 cm in diameter.
Answer:
a.) density = mass/volume
volume = mass/density
[but volume = area * thickness and 1ft. = 30.48 cm]
area * thickness = 3.636/2.699
1(30.48) * thickness =1.347
thickness = 1.35/30.48
Thickness = 0.044 cm or 0.44 mm
b.) volume of the sphere = 4(pi)(r^3)
volume = 4(3.14)(7.5^3)
volume = 5298.75 cm^3
mass = density * volume
mass = 22.57 * 5298.75
mass = 119592.79 gms or 119.592 kg or 263.70 pounds
there u go, just remember the formulas.
