Please help me direct variation and proportion?

A carpet company charges $ 450 to lay carpet on a floor whose area is 200 square feet.
B.) Write a direct - variation equation that gives the cost of laying carpet if cost varies directly as the size of a room. What does the constant of variation represent?

Answer:
c = k A . . . where c= cost, . . A = area
$450 = k ( 200 )
k= $450 / 200
k = $2.25 / sq.ft

Cost = $2.25 (Area)
You could also use a proportion

Lets say you want an estimate for 275 Sq Ft.

(450$/200sq ft)=(X/275) >> Solve for x>> x = 618$

You could plug in any amount of square feet and get the cost
