Does the -OH group contribute to the unstable nature of picric acid?

If so how and why?

Answer:
The unstability of picric acid comes from the three nitro groups attached to the phenol ring structure. In a liquid or hydrated form picric acid is stable. Once the liquid dehydrates and becomes a salt, picric acid become very, very shock sensitive.
