Will either rust?
I'm looking to buy a choker for continuous wear. I need to know, will either galvanized steel or tin plated steel rust under water in the shower or have any other kind of reaction over time of being constantly worn about the neck? When I say constant, I mean 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Thanks lots
Answer:
Surgical stainless steel; anodized titanium if you are allergic to nickel; gold or platinum Plated steels will corrode at scratches and wear points.
Mokumé gané metalworking if your Dom really cares.

why would you wear the same thing 27/7 ? it would leave water marks all over your neck area when you shower or bathe ! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
For continuous wear, the relatively thin and soft coatings (zinc or tin) will wear through eventually (might be pretty soon for plated finishes) and the steel below will rust. Stainless steel, titanium , silver or white gold would be better choices. Platinum would work too, but is heavy and expensive.
Typical galvanized items are made with zinc coated electric fence wire. The zinc does not easily wear off, but it will tarnish with time (looking blackish or dirty gray). Tin is more reactive than zinc.
Do not be too sure that steel will last longer than aluminum. A heavy anodized aluminum alloy will wear very well and might give you a choice of colors. Contact the maker and ask.
