I have a metal that has some if not most of the properties of Tin, but when the metal comes in contact with distilled water after a period of about ten minutes the metal begins to turn gold. To my knowledge tin is not supposed to undergo this change.
Answer:
are you sure the metal is not just dirty?
cause only some of the more reactive metals will react with water, forming hydrogen and base. and neither tin, nor copper, nor their alloy, brass will do it. i mean it is possible that u have brass coated with Zn, and the Zn just reacts with water, falls of and reveals what´s beneath.
