How does Liebermann-Burchard test work?

Liebermann-Burchard test is a confirmatory test for presence of cholesterol which is indicated by a blue-green color. I would like to know how it works and the reactions involved in the test.

Answer:
Ronald E B is correct, and you should award him full points. I note that H2SO4 would ensure acetylation of the -OH of cholesterol, and that H2SO4 would catalyze a Friedel-Crafts type reaction between chloroform and cholesteryl acetate.
From what I have read, the specific chomophore responsible for the color hasn't been identified.
You study for it, you do well. That's pretty much true for all tests.
