you could know by its smell.if it has sweet is means the apple is sweet.this is because by the ester in the apple.if the apple has pugent smell this means the apple is sou because of the corboxylic acid in the apple.
Swetness means glycose and frouctose. You can test with Iodine (I2). If the apple is very sweet you will get a deep bleu color and if it less sweet the color will be less bold.
Iodine reacts with hydrocarbonates and gives out a blue complexed compound.
