Information/ background on Ionic Bonds? Info/background on salts?

information needed for a lab report

Answer:
An ionic bond is formed between a metal and a non-metal.
Metals have low electronegativities ( less than 2.0 ) while non-metals have highter electronegativities.
Conseguently , the non-metal is "stronger" than the metal and can steal electrons very easily from the metal becoming a cation , and the non-metal becoming an anion.
An ionic bound is the resulting acctraction for an anion and a cation after an electron is transferred from the metal to non-metal .
An example is NaCl ( Na+ Cl-)
A salt is a neutral compound composed of cations and anions : Na2SO4 ( 2 Na+ and SO42- ).
The salts are ionic compounds ,they are often soluble in water where 2 ions are separate.
Salts have a hight melting point , low hardness and low compressibility.
If molten or dissolved in water conduct electricity
