Chloroform Gas in the Dishwasher- Harmful?

I am 18 weeks pregnant I was opening up the dishwasher and I thought it had sat for a while and the steam was gone...Nope it was there and in my face on a breath in. I looked it up and there is Chloroform that forms in the dishwasher because of the mix of chemicals with the clorinated water.

Now I am scared. I looked it up and saw that there was a warning about this and I never knew it and there is even a warning about using Trilosan based hand wash and Chloronated water... That it too causes The gas.

I hope I didn't just do damage to the baby. I stopped breathing in when the steam got in my throat.

I am not getting movements regular yet so I have no reassurance at this time either.
I hate this Toxic world.

Answer:
As a mom and chemistry teacher, I didn't drink tea or coffee during my two pregnancies. I made hot water with milk in it and drank that instead. I ate healthily and gained the recommended 25 lbs. and had two very healthy babies. I am sure that I inhaled the gas formed in the dishwasher numerous times, breathed in car and bus exhaust, ate lots of pesticide-sprayed vegetables, etc. etc. Think about the big risks- don't drink alcohol, don't smoke anything, wear your seatbelt low, keep your prenatal appointments, eat quality food, don't stress about anything you don't have to, don't fly in the third trimester and cross your fingers. The stress you are feeling is probably more toxic than the fumes from the dishwasher, although they are annoying. That said, whenever my son or daughter mentions their wild partying (and they are really good, solid citizens and all grown up, I gently (and persistently) remind them about the 18 months without my cuppa tea! I could have had a disabled baby no matter what precautions I took. It happens to a few people. But we all hope for the best and 99% of the time, that hope is rewarded with a perfectly healthy kid, enjoy yours!
