What volume (mL) of a 0.20 M...?

SrCI2 solution can be prepared by diluting 50.0 mL of a 1.0 M SrCI2 solution?

can you please show me step by step on how to get this answer?

Answer:
Step 1: No of moles of SrCl2 in undiluted solution.

1000mL of solution contain 1 mol SrCl2
50 mL contain ? ===> 50 * 1 /1000 = 0.05 mol

Diluted solution contains the same number of moles as undiluted solution, since only solvent is added.

Step 2: Volume of diluted solution

0.2 mol of SrCl2 are present in 1000mL
0.05 mol of SrCl2 are present in ? ==> 0.05 * 1000 / 0.2 = 250 mL of diluted solution (Answer)
