Strongest acid?
Out of all of these which would be the strongest - lactic acid, formic acid, cyanic acid, propionic acid or benzoic acid?
Answer:
They're all pretty close based on pKa values, yet cyanic seems to be the strongest, but barely (lactic and formic are very close).
pKa of the acids (stronger acid = lower pKa)
lactic acid ~ 3.86
formic acid ~ 3.75
cyanic acid ~ 3.46
benzoic acid ~ 4.19
The formic acid
