What is the difference between the chemical engineering word's, and the chemistry word's?
Answer:
In the chemistry world the chemist is concerned with the reaction and chemicals. Understanding and studying the toxicity of the reagents, the stoichiometry of the reaction, the nature of the reaction conditions and getting the reaction condition just right so that to yield of the reaction is optimal yielding the highest yield of products with the simplest work up.
In the chemical engineering world the engineer is concerned with process. How large a reactors need to be to handle the reagents for the reaction and how thick they need to be to handle the reaction conditions - also of what material they need to be the handle the reaction conditions without interfering with the reaction (the stoichiometry of the original chemists notes are only helpful to a point), the chemical engineer has his own formulas to determine the volume of the reactor necessary for the process.
He is also interested in how he will be able to effectively pump the reagents in large scale (transfer) in and out of the reactor (recovery), and how to purify to product once it is recovered (end processing). He is then concerned with how to convert the product into usable products for distribution to the next stage for end usage.
Some are engineering and others relate to chemistry! Voila!!
