What are some products where the desirable is the product from undesirable reactants?
Answer:
I guess what you are asking is what useful products are made from poisonous starting materials.
The best example I could give you is polycarbonate (Thick- clear plastic - sparklets water bottles).
They use phosgene and bisphenol-A. Bisphenol-A is a diphenol and phosgene is a deadly poison (COCl2)

COCl2 + HO-R-OH --> --((C=O)-O-R-O-)--

There are many other polymers made with toxic monomers.
Hexamethylene diamine used to made nylon is highly toxic:

NH2(CH2)4NH2 + COOH(CH2)4COOH -->
--(COHN(CH2)6NHCO(CH2)4-)-

there are countless other examples - these are just two..
Sodium and Cholorine are both nasty and reactive. Salt is necessary for life.
Biogas from biomass.
Dear Leah:
This happens, in the huge variety of moleculas of medicines, where the reaction starts with undesirable products, you remember e.g the aspirin, where it begins with elements such as acetic anhdryd + salicilic acid = acid acetilsalicilic.
(CH3CO) 2-O +C6H5 (OH)-( COOH) = C6H5[OCOCH3] (COOH)
Well, a dead lamb plus fire turns out pretty good. Those two things on their own arent that great, but the lamb plus fire is awesome.
