You're right that the first g orbital would show up in the 5th shell, but due to the way the orbital is shaped, the first ground state electron will not fall into the 5g orbital until after the 8s chemistry eorbital is filled up, so probably sometime around element 122. The reason for this is a phenomenon called electron shielding. In simple terms, it means that the electrons in the 5g orbital can't get close enough to the nucleus to feel all the nuclear charge that the inner shell electrons feel, and is forced to higher energy.
