Do you know what solution is used to get the -40 C = -40 F?

what kind of algebra rule do i use so i could get an answer of -40 C= -40F??pls help

Answer:
Degrees farenheit is 9/5 * degrees celsius + 32

For example, 100 C becomes 100*9/5 + 32 = 212 F which is the boiling point of water.

similarly -40 C becomes -40*9/5 + 32 = -40 F

So if you want to solve for the temperature where both scales are equal let D be degrees celsius and F be degrees farenheit

C * 9/5 + 32 = F

substituting C=F

C * 9/5 + 32 = C
9C/5 - C = -32
9C/5 - 5C/5 = -32
4C/5 = -32
C = -32*5/4
C = -40

Or we could go the other way

C * 9/5 = F-32
C = 5(F-32)/9

substituting F=C

F = 5(F-32)/9
9F = 5F - 160
4F = -160
F = -40
C/5=F-32/9
if C=F=x?
x/5=(x-32)/9
9x=5x-160
4x=-160
x=-40
F=1.8C+32

F=C then:
C=1.8C+32
-0.8C=32
C=-40
