Chemistry balancing equations (combustion) help?

write the balanced equation for the combustion of C (sub 2) H (sub 5) OH

i know the combustion formula.. and i know that you should balance C's first, then H, then O.. but its not working.. i must be doing something wrong.. please show work

Answer:
C2H5OH + O2 --> CO2 + H2O - unbalanced

C2H5OH + O2 --> 2CO2 + H2O - C balanced

C2H5OH + 2O2 --> 2CO2 + H2O - O balanced

C2H5OH + 2O2 --> 2CO2 + 3H2O - H balanced

C2H5OH + 3O2 --> 2CO2 + 3H2O - O rebalanced, whole thing balanced.
Is this all in one compound?
To balance you need the reactants and the products...
