Need an experiment idea?
- I record observations on and can record numerical results
- I can complete in one day
- There's a lot of information on
- Won't cost much
- It'll be reasonably easy to do
- I can back up scientifically
- Can compare my results with others (e.g. do a few experiments to determine which one is the best/most effective)
Answer:
there is diet coke/mentos, a trite, but simple experiment. You could try different sodas of nucleating agents (rock salt, pennies, etc).
You could buy muriatic acid(HCL) at a hardware store and react different quantities of Al and measure the volume of H2 produced.
Saponification only NaOH would be hard to come by
a titration might work in a lab
Acid/Base reaction
Inside every little white security strip at the supermarket (e.g., vitamins) are at least two metal strips. One is surface-microcorrugated and magnetic. The other is mirror-surfaced splat-cooled amorphous metal.
1) How does the magnetic susceptiblity of the amorphous metal vary with temp? (Measure lever deflection in a constant magnetic field by reflecting a laser pointer off the end surface onto a wall - displacement is amplified by distance).
2) At what temp does the amorphous metal crystallize?
