Whats the difference between welding oxygen an medical oxygen?

Answer:
um no. Oxygen tends to be diatomic, O2. Medical and Welding oxygen are both O2. Chemically speaking, they are the same. My guess is that it is something to do with the holding tank/ valves, % of impurities or perhaps moisture content. Both come from liquid oxygen, if I am not mistaken. See this thread - http://www.practicalmachinist.com/cgi-bi...
One is O2 and the other is O.
The difference is purity and moisture content. Welding oxygen is slightly less pure and contains as little moisture as possible. Medical oxygen is purposely made moist to help prevent the drying of nasal passages, etc.

As an aside aviation oxygen is like medical oxygen but with the water removed to prevent valves from freezing when the gas expands.
