What will happen to the COD value if HgSO4 is not present in the vial?



Answer:
i'm pretty sure that the HgSO4 is there to keep the solution acidic as well as act as an oxidizer, because Hg is happy at +2 charge, not +4. the COD will be lower than it should if there is no HgSO4
