Please explain what is equivalence and equivalent weight and how to find it out. Please please help me.?

Answer:
equivalency is the charge on the ions when dissolved when dissolved preferably in an ionic solvent, like water.
For example, when you dissolve NaOH in water, it will dissociate into Na+ and Cl- ions. The charge on this ions as you can see is 1.
that means the equivalency is 1.
equivalent weight is molecular weight divided by the equivalency.
for example, molecular weight of sulphuric acid is 98, its equivalence would be 2,
so the equivalent weight will be 49.
I hope you understood.
equivalent is the amount of substance (in g, mol, l, whatever) that you need in order to perform a full reaction, a.k.a. to the end. it is therefore something, dependent on the reaction in question and is not as universal as mole, or gram.
e.g. u need two equivalents of NaOH in order to neutralize 1 mole( or gram) of H2SO4. or the other way round, u need only 1/2 equivalent of H2SO4 to neutralize 1 unit of NaOH.
the simplest synonym would be unit or entity. hope that´s clear enough..
