Why is o-xylene used as an internal standard in the infrared spectroscopy experiment.?

the o-xylene is mixed with para- and meta-xylene

depends what THE one and only IR experiment that everybody knows about is.
i would never use them since they absorb too much in areas, where other compound also absorb.
