Calculate the molarity of a solution which has a total volume of 250mL and has 50g copper(II) sulfate .?

pentahydrate(CuSO4. 5H20)

Answer:
molarity=moles of solute over Liters of solution

1mole CuSO4.5H20 =50/250
mole formula = grams given/ gram formula mass

so its .2 mole

250ml = .25L

so the equation is .2/.25
the Molarity is .8

hope this helped...u may wanna check the work
Molarity (M) is the number of moles of a given substance per liter of solution. I assume that you'll be using a 250ml volumetric flask to get an accurate molarity, so that you need not have to worry about the 5 water molecule changing the actual volume. That's the only way to get accurate molarity.

So,
Molecular weight = 63.5+16*4+32+90=249.5
No of mol= 50/249.5=0.200 mol
Molarity=0.200/250*1000=0.8M

Sometimes, this can be misinterpreted as "0.8 moles of solute per 1.0 liter of solvent", which can be true only if no volume change occurs on adding the solute to the solvent. But in this case, for every 1 molecule of CuSO4, you'll get 5 molecule of water. This is the reason why volumetric flask are used so as to account for these water molecules present.
