What is the derivation of formula used for determining to API gravity of crude oil ?
API Gravity = 141.5 – S.G/ 131.5
From where values 141.5 & 131.5 are taken
Answer:
141.5 comes from hydrometers that were distributed with a modulus of 141.5 instead of the Baume 140
131.5 is the cut off for light crude
anything less is medium crude and less than 122.3 is heavy crude
hope this helps
