It would help to know a bit more about your background reason for the investigation? Are you a high-school student or a bored phd? Does it need to be chemistry related? What are your lab resources/instrumentation? I had a project in college which i tested various water contaminants (all heavy metals) from drinking water from various locations about the state. That was a lot of fun but you need to have an atomic emission spectrometer lying around.
