Name substances "P", "Q" &"R".?
Metal "A" ---> add dilute HCL (aq) ---> forms pale green solution "C" ---> with excess zinc ---> grey powder.
Metal "A" ---> add dilute HCL (aq) ---> forms pale green solution "C" ---> with excess zinc ---> forms a colourless solution "D".
Metal "A" ---> add dilute HCL (aq) ---> forms pale green solution "C" ---> with chloride forms a brown solution "E" ---> with NaOH (aq) produces a brown precipitate "F".
Q1: Name metal "A"
Q2: Name colourless gas "B"
Q3: Name the pale green solution "C"

Answer:
The only metals that can react as described are Fe, Co, Ni and In (with my little experience, probably there are others)
B is Hydrogen
C is the M[H2O]4^(n+) acqueous ion
D is Zn+2 solution and the grey powder is A that is reduced and precipitates
E is the chloride ion M[Cl]n
F is the insoluble hydroxide M[OH]n
Now: acqueous nickel solution is pale green, it's reduced by Zn BUT doesn't precipitate with OH-
so it's not Ni
Co precipitatewith Zn and with OH- as brown solid and form a brown solution with Chlorides, BUT it's acqueos ion is pink, reddish or blue, not pale green.
so it's not Co
In react with acids to form a pale green solution, brown with chorides, precipitates with Zn, and precipitates in alkali (in contrast to Ga that is soluble in alkali)
Fe does the same as In, but the Fe2+ acqueous ion is pale green-yellowish, the chloride is yellow-brown and the hydroxide is reddish-brown
Soooo, it's Fe or In.
If I have to choose one... just add some thiocyanide solution : deep red means Fe.
If I have to bet... Fe.
