Are artificial sweeteners really unstable chemically?

I have heard that they turn into formic acid at room temperature and cause alot of damage to your body including unnecessary strain on your pancreas. is this true?

They are known to cause cancer. Unstable.I don't think so. Unhealthy, you bet!
