When leaves change color, is that a physical or chemical change?
Answer:
Plant leaves have color due to pigments that are used to absorb certain frequency of light. There are lots of different pigments but the primary one is chlorophyll. When plants go into a dormant stage chlorophyll is chemically altered and transported into the "trunk of the tree, which exposes other pigments that have always been there so we can see them. So its a chemical change first , then well it is chemical transport, so its all chemical. Hmm I just rethought your question, i kinda forgot the context. so a chemical change is when a property is changed by a chemical reaction, like oxidation, while a physical change is done by an outside force. like cutting a piece of paper. So this is definitely a chemical change
Chemical change that lead to a physical change.
