Chemistry Question: Rice Vinegar vs. Household Vinegar?

Why is the volume of NaOH required to neutralize a sample of household vinegar higher than the volume required to neutralize a sample of rice vinegar?
What is the percent by mass of acetic acid higher in household vinegar than in rice vinegar?

Answer:
Sodium hydroxide neutralizes the acetic acid in vinegar as per the following equation:

NaOH + CH3COOH = CH3COONa + H2O

If the volume of NaOH required to neutralize a sample of household vinegar is greater than that required to neutralize the same sample size of rice vinegar then the household vinegar has more acetic acid in it.

Typically a household vinegar will have a 5% acetic acid concentration compared to a 4% concentration for rice vinegar.
