What change would you expect to see if the products of burning are passed over anhydrous copper sulphate?

Answer:
products of burning are CO2 and H2O. anhydrous copper sulphate (pale green or gray-white powder) will absorb the water and will change coulor to bright blue (enhydrous form)
If water(vapour) is present then white anhydrous copper II sulphate powder would eventually turn blue, copper II sulphate-5 water (aka: copper II sulphate penta-hydrate). A blue crystalline structure
This all depends on what you are burning. A pure hydrocarbon, aldehyde, keytone or alcocol burnt completely in air will produce CO2 and H2O only (For example, burning a candle), so the Anhydrous Copper(II) Sulphate should turn from grey-white to blue. However, burning Magnesium (Mg) only produces Magnesium Oxide, MgO which has no effect on anhydrous copper(II) sulphate.
