Basic ingridents to gun powder?

This is not because im making it
its because during AS chemistry we had a wicked teacher that made it and i could not remeber the ingredents
this sounds suspicous but honestly its a innocent Q

Answer:
First, there are different types of gunpowder, which are made differently. You're probably asking about black powder, which is made of a mixture of charcoal, sulfur, and saltpeter. Its actually really easy to make because charcoal is merely burnt wood, while sulfur and saltpeter can be derived from aged fecal matter and urine (that's actually how it used to be made). Smokeless powder, in contrast, is more powerful but its a little more complicated to make. Smokeless powder is generally some form of nitrocellulose compound formed into flakes, balls, or rods (recipes vary and are often state secrets) but it is basically the same thing as film stock for cameras.
Charcoal, saltpeter (potassium nitrate), sulfur.
I think it's sulfur, potash and saltpeter, or sulfur, charcoal and saltpeter, but anyway, it's here;

Gunpowder consists of about 60% to 75% sodium nitrate -- about 15% to 20% powdered sulpher, and 5% to 15% powdered charcoal, also called powdered carbon.
