Chemistry Question?

If you put HCl acid on a piece of galvanized iron, how can you determine the thickness of zinc?

Answer:
The HCl will attack the zinc vigorously, and then, when the layer of iron is exposed, it will slow down. At that point the metal can be washed, to remove the HCl, and the depth of the hole measured.
