How can I show that the decomposition reaction of H2O2 is is first order?
Equation 1-H2O2(aq)+2I-(aq) +2H+(aq) ==> 2H2O(l) + I2(aq)
Equation 2-I2(aq) + 2S2O32- (aq) ==> 2I-(aq) +S4O62-(aq)
but i don't know how?
Answer:
The order of the reaction depends on the rate of reaction at different concentrations of reactants. So to find the order of the reaction with respect to H2O2 you would need to calculate the rate of reaction at concentration x of H2O2 then that at concentration 2x i.e. double the concentration. If the reaction is first order the rate will double as the concentration doubles.
You need reaction data.
