will condensation on an exterior wall migrate "in and through" a polymeric film? if so, what are the forces at work that cause the water to migrate into, rather than stay on the surface of the paint film?
Answer:
If the polymeric film is permeable, it will act as a membrane to bleed water to the side that is lower in water. If the polymeric film was applied to something like wall board, the substrate is dry and there is a driving force for the water to penetrate the film and make the concentration of water the same on both sides.
